Pranayama weekly course
Pranayam is composed of two words mainly PRANA (life force) and AYAMA( extension) so in brief it literally translates into extension of the life force. Now according to concept of PRANA it is the vital flow transcending throughout the human body and among living creatures from the most gross to the subtle most bringing about and controlling all functions in the living world. In the human body PRANA has been considered as gross travelling through the breath and during inhalation and exhalation it physically moves in and out vitally supporting our living systems. The subtle aspect of PRANA is which moves throughout the body and it may be witnessed in physical processes it also moves through what we call as the PRANIC CHANNELS or the NADIS throughout the human body and involves the flow of life-force at the subtle most level of consciousness and even the universal flow prevalent around us.
PRANAYAM is a physical process whereby the breathing movements as normal are modified through various breath control techniques while the emphasis is laid on the rhythm and rate of inhalation , exhalation as well as containing the breath in between these two processes. As PRANAYAM tends to bring about depth and control of these breathing movements consequently the practitioner experiences a feeling of complete relaxation while the mind also becomes attentive and relaxed while the complete body is nourished through extension and depth in the breathing processes. Through PRANAYAM one can easily cleanse itself from the stresses of day to day happenings or any form of sadness or anxiety are completely washed away while a feeling a pleasure and joy is the hallmark of an effective and appropriate practice of PRANAYAM.
Apart from it’s physical and mental benefits PRANAYAM is the key foundation from which spiritual progress can further continue and being an essential precursor to the practice of DHYAN , the process of PRANAYAM prepares the body and mind both for the next level of meditation. PRANAYAM is one of the key features of practice of yoga which has received tremendous acclaim throughout the world and is still growing in popularity among seekers of this traditional wisdom of YOGA
